The recipients must be in the upper 25% in their classes in academic subjects and in ROTC, and they are also chosen for qualities including dependability, good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership ability and patriotism, according to the national DAR website. The DAR ROTC awards go to outstanding student cadets in high school and college. The chapter presented the awards at its May 12 meeting at the Redlands Country Club. This year’s awards went to nine ROTC and Junior ROTC cadets, from eight Inland Empire high schools and Cal State San Bernardino. The Arrowhead Valley Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution recently presented its annual ROTC awards.
